Dunblane Cathedral Halls Restoration Project

Costs and Funding

A major conservation project

The June 2026 cost plan estimates the complete, restoration project at approximately £770,471, including VAT and professional fees.

This figure is an estimate, not a final approved budget.

What will the money pay for?

The proposed works cover the external building fabric, including:

  • Roofs and chimneys.
  • Walls and stone features.
  • Windows and doors.
  • Drainage.
  • Associated scaffolding and professional services.

The cost plan includes contractor preliminaries, allowances for unforeseen works and inflation to an anticipated start in early 2027.

Costs remain subject to further design development and competitive contractor quotations. Possible timber rot treatment and asbestos removal have not yet been confirmed.

How will the project be funded?

We are exploring:

  • Charitable grants.
  • Donations.
  • Fundraising activities.
  • Sponsorship.
  • Other sources of financial support.

Grant applications will require a developed scheme, reliable cost information and, in some cases, match funding.

Our aim is to build a realistic funding package that enables the necessary work to proceed.

We need the wider community’s support to protect the halls for the future.
