FIRE INSTRUCTIONS - 2026

❖ IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE

• Raise the alarm – break glass on the fire alarm point nearest to you.

• Alert the occupants in the area – do not shout FIRE as this may cause panic.

• Call the Fire & Rescue service immediately by dialling 999.

o Our location is FK15 0AQ.

o Phones are located at Cross Cottage, Tappit Hen, manse, neighbouring

houses, and a mobile phone is kept in the office.

• Close all doors and windows – to reduce the risk of fire spreading.

• Do not take any personal risk.

❖ ON HEARING THE FIRE ALARM BELL

• All occupants should leave the building immediately - by the designated route

without panic – Primary Exit is Fire Door near toilets, at rear of building.

• Close all doors and windows – do not take any personal risk.

• Switch off any electrical equipment, if that can be done safely.

• Do not stop to collect personal belongings.

• Do not run – you may fall and block the escape route for others.

• Do not re-enter the building.

❖ ROLL CALL

• Assemble by the Cathedral Bell Tower, near the main (south) door of the Cathedral

• Remain until all occupants have been accounted for and do not re-enter the building

or disperse until instructed.

The person in charge of the group should ensure that everyone is accounted for

and any discrepancies are reported to the Fire and Rescue service on their arrival.
