The Boys' Brigade
The BB was founded in Glasgow in 1883 as the first uniformed organisation for boys and
although many things have changed since then, the basic principles remain the same.
We are told (Luke 2, 52) that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and
man and so our programme consists in acquiring knowledge, various physical activities,
community work and Christian faith. The company is also involved in the Duke of
Edinburgh award and has won several local competitions for drill, PE, table tennis and
football and has also won a national hiking competition.
