Welcome to the Dunblane Cathedral Brass & Woodwind Group page.

We are a group of up to 15 players who play at Morning Worship four times during the year - Easter Day, Ascension Sunday, Dedication Service and Christmas Day.

Our current total instrumentation is:

5 Trumpets
1 French Horn
1 Euphonium
3 Trombones

1 Tuba
4 flutes
1 baritone saxophone

Our aim is to lead the congregation in worship, and the music we play ranges from classical pieces to jazz arrangements.

Like to join the group?

We would be delighted to hear from you if you would like to join us.  We especially welcome younger players. The benefit of joining the group is firstly the experience of making music with others. Secondly, in such a small group, you have the ability to be a key contributor, rather than being buried in the middle of a band or orchestra. Finally, we play fun music!

We normally rehearse after the Sunday Morning Service for three or four Sundays before our next outing. The only prerequisite is that you should be at least grade 4 or 5 on your instrument. We have our own wiki on the internet, and we put the music on this in advance of the rehearsals for you to download and practice. We also place the music in Scorch format, so you can hear what the music sounds like, and play along with it.

If you would like to come along and join us, or wish to know more about the group, or pass comment on the group, or the music played, please contact Chris Wilson.

If you wish to know when the Brass & Woodwind Group will be playing, please look at the music list on the Choir page here.
