SBS treads the boards

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and this year the Scottish Bible Society is pleased to be associated with four productions! There's something for everyone in this selection of imaginative presentations of the biblical message.

The ever-popular Saltmine Theatre Company is bringing a children's show called The Hope Play about the life of Joseph, the boy with the trendy coat and big dreams, and In The Beginning, a comedy caper through the book of Genesis for adults. Saltmine are appearing at Venue 251 (Charlotte Chapel).

Meanwhile, in the Grassmarket, at Venue 24 (The Lot), Broadway actor Bruce Kuhn will be performing two one-man shows - Tales of Tolstoy weaves some of the Russian writer's short stories with a biographical account of his spiritually turbulent final days and The Gospel According To Luke is a compelling word-for-word re-telling in the Authorised Version.

Each of the shows has the message of Scripture at its heart, and offers a great opportunity for you to invite friends, neighbours, colleagues and family to be challenged in a non-threatening environment. Why not make a day of it and take in a couple of shows? The two venues are about 15 minutes apart on foot, and the shows are all taking place during week 1 of the Festival (10-18 August).

Tickets are already selling fast, so book now to avoid disappointment.
